The 2012 Podium Awards

This website was created solely for announcing and promoting the Podium Awards event. When the site's domain expired and it once again became available I bought it with the goal of recreating as much of its original content as possible from archived pages. Even though the specific usefulness of the site, as it was intended has ended, this was a gala event whose presence on the internet, I believe, should still be available.

To those who discover this podiumawards2012.com website, please consider the information on the site for historical purposes. Those who attended the ceremony will have a nostalgic walk through the days leading up to the event, as well as being able to reminisce about actual Awards evening. Enjoy.

The Podium Awards was a distinguished, one-time-only celebration recognizing the vital role colleges and universities across the UK have played in delivering the London 2012 Games. I happened to attend since the company I worked for in London was a sponsor. I have since returned to the US where I now work for a social media company helping online e-commerce sites reach out to more people. We offer Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram advice.
A great housewares site call Nest Homeware just signed on with us. The owner of the company is also the designer of the cast iron cookware which are like very functional, yet beautiful pieces of art. If yo are familiar with cast iron skillets, they basically all look the same. The Nest cast iron skillets really stand out from the pack with their meticulously sculpted handle on the cast iron skillets and covers. According to the copy on the website, the handles are an abstracted take on a cherry branch, designed to ergonomically for both left and right handed folks. The handles on the cast iron skillets are longer than average, both in absolute dimensions and in proportion relative to the dish of the skillet basin. The handle also meets the skillet basin in a forked joint resulting in less strain on the users’ wrist while handling the inherent weight of a cast iron skillet, and simultaneously keeping their hand cooler as they cook.
In addition, the initial color of the cast iron cook ware is also different as a result of their seasoning process. Apparently Nest Homeware pre-seasons all their cast iron cookware with two rounds of organic flaxseed oil, so that right out of the box, they are ready to cook with. The seasoning is done at a temperature of 425º F, which gives a golden/ copper color to the interiors. The color will change, deepening and darkening over time as layers of seasoning build, eventually reaching a rich black.

The photos on the Nest Homeware site are superb. They even have a page dedicated to caste iron recipes. I am so excited to work on this account since they offer so much style and design elements that are so important for social media posts. I recommend that you check out their cast iron luxury skillets - not only those delicious looking recipes but all the cast iron cookware.

We will aim our campaigns at both chefs and those looking for a cast iron pan option from what's already available. I already have some video I am editing showing the 4.5" and 9" cast iron skillets versatility and efficacy in cooking food from steak to eggs. Oh, my I did digress a  bit here.

NOW back to the actual 2012 Podium Awards content.....
